Biography

Attorney Metzbower takes great pride in his reputation of being different than most attorneys. He is known for his down to earth and straight forward approach that makes it easy for clients to understand complex legal issues. Jay credits this skill to his training and experience serving as a Sheriff’s Deputy for eleven years.

During his time with the Sheriff’s Office, Jay received a Life Saving Award, Governor’s Citation, and the Scott T. Brousseau Community Service Award for charitable work in the community. As an attorney, he has a passion for helping first responders, veterans, and their families. Guided by a strong sense of responsibility to protect those who are most vulnerable, he focuses on Medicaid qualification, asset protection from long-term care and nursing home costs, and complex estate planning. He understands the significant consequences that inadequate estate plans can create for minor children, disabled beneficiaries, and surviving family members, and he works diligently to ensure clients receive plans tailored to their unique needs.

For the last two years, he has been teaching workshops on estate planning and speaking in the community to educate others on the pitfalls of common estate planning mistakes.

Jay has been living in York since 2013, but is originally from Baltimore and remains loyal to the Orioles and Ravens. In his spare time, he enjoys motorcycle riding, hiking, playing York County Oldtimers baseball, and spending time with his two sons, Connor and Reilly.

Jay earned his Juris Doctor, Cum Laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law. He is admitted to the bars of both Pennsylvania and Maryland.
